Ibis Jasper is a form of Brecciated Jasper from Madagascar, its name derived from an Egyptian crane due to its markings similar to the feathers of the bird. The Ibis bird is associated with the Egyptian deity Thoth and relates to intuition and spirit communication. Higher self and soul guidance are also key parts of the Thoth tradition.
Ibis Jasper is naturally formed when jasper is broken apart and then re-formed together with agate, quartz, or chalcedony filling in the gaps. Due to its formation, its visual patterns also have an almost psychedelic or other worldly quality, and it has been referred to as appearing like "a lava lamp frozen in time."
